Dua after having a bad dream (English & Arabic)

Dua after bad dream:

what to do when you have a bad?  dreamtransliteration

The righteous dream is from Allah and the bad dream is from the devil, so if anyone sees something which pleases him then he should only relate it to one whom he loves…

Translation:

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from His wrath and punishment and from the evil of His slaves and from the prodding of the devils and from their presence.

Transliteration:

A’udhu bikalimatil ;ahit tammati min ghada-bihi wa iqabihi. wa sharri ‘ibadihi, wa min hamazatish shayateeni wa an yahdurun.

Summary of what to do upon having a bad dream:

1. Spit on your left three times. (Spit: A form of spitting comprising mainly of air with little spittle)
2. Seek refuge in Allah from satan and the evil of what you saw (Three times).
3. Do not relate it to anyone.
4. Turn and sleep on the opposite side to which you were sleeping on previously.
5. Get up and pray if you so desire.

Sometimes we have good dreams and sometimes we have bad dreams. We learn from Islam some adabs (good behavior) for when we’ve got bad dreams.

In a hadith from Abu Qatadah (may Allah blesses him), that the Prophet (ﷺ) says:

“A good vision (dream) is from Allah and a bad dream is from the Satan. He who sees something in a dream that he dislikes, should blow thrice on his left, must seek Allah’s Refuge from the evil of the Satan (i.e., by saying: A’udhu billahi minash-shaitanir rajim). Then it will not harm him” [al-Bukhari and Muslim].
